Good things come in threes!

You know that old saying “Good things come in threes?”

Well, I’ve had 3 ladies lovely visit me to take part in their maternity photoshoot. The best part about it all? The trio were best friends of many years who were lucky enough to all fall pregnant at the same time and share their journey to motherhood together.

I’m being perfectly honest, I can’t say that I’ve ever put too much thought into the meaning behind those words. Until recently that is, when I had the absolute pleasure of working with not one, not two, but THREE loPregnancy is often said (or feared) to be contagious, with legitimate research backing these claims up. Nobody knows the exact science behind friends or family members regularly falling pregnant at the same time, but I can certainly say I had a fleeting thought of “Don’t drink the water!” when those three ladies stepped foot into my studio. Ha! Just kidding… Maybe.

Allina, Rainbow and Lana are all due to give birth within six weeks of each other, which is certainly a feat worth drawing attention to. The idea for the photoshoot was actually thought up by Rainbow’s husband, who arranged for Lana & Allina to fly interstate to surprise her with a joint maternity celebration. How sweet!

Having the opportunity to photograph these incredible women certainly provided me with some insight towards the perks of sharing your pregnancy journey with a loved one. As we went about our fun for the day, Allina, Rainbow and Lana talked about the ways in which pregnancy is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Together, they’ve been able to support each other with all sorts of questions and concerns, as well as those strange and less-than-fun body and lifestyle changes. They’ve been able to study up on all things baby together which, let’s face it, is one of the toughest things to do while pregnant! With soooo many different and conflicting pieces of information out there, it’s great to be able to bounce your ideas and questions off someone else who is in the same boat as you. When you share your pregnancy with someone you are close to, it’s safe to say that NOTHING is off-limits. Nope, not even the potentially irrational, downright strange, self-deprecating and even disgusting curiosities that might strike you. Whether we would like to admit it or not, that in itself is a huge source of comfort.

Overall, Allina, Rainbow and Lana each felt a sense of comfort in having one another to turn to, and were relieved to know that they had an extra set of listening ears to sort through those daunting changes and common fears. They were able to do this as a team, all the while celebrating the new generation of baby besties on their way!

As I’m sure you can imagine, this particular photoshoot will forever be one of my favourites, and one that I will remember throughout the rest of my career. If you find yourself partaking in the rising trend of pregnancy contagion, I would certainly recommend for you to undertake a joint photoshoot with your fellow-bun-cooking sidekick to document the special moment.

We all know how quickly pregnancy can fly by, so be sure to capture those memorable days to cherish and share for years to come.
