Booking with EJM Newborn Photography

For those of you looking for a professional newborn photographer within the Melbourne or Port Melbourne area, you’ve come to the right place.

My name is Emma and I am the proud owner of EJM Newborn Photography a Melbourne newborn photographer. My business is family focused and designed to provide clients with superior newborn photography that is high-quality, timeless and unique.  I specialise in both newborn and maternity photography and have been working with local families for years. I have a private studio in Port Melbourne where all newborn photography sessions are created within a comfortable environment (for both parents and bubs!), and are usually completed within 2 or so hours.

Given the unpredictable nature of pregnancy, labour and birth, I thought it would be helpful to provide a little information surrounding the general booking process of EJM Newborn Photography to help you plan ahead of time to ensure you don’t miss out.

When you get in touch with me to organise your shoot, I will add your session to my calendar for the month you are due to give birth. Once your baby has been born, I ask that you contact me as soon as possible to schedule a time and day to visit the studio. Newborn photography shoots generally take place within 12 days of your baby being born, and I usually find that a mid-morning (10am) timeframe works best in terms of bub being settled and comfortable. If you are having a Caesarean birth, we can plan your session in advance according to your scheduled date of admission.

With every newborn photography shoot that is booked, you will also receive a complimentary Maternity shoot that is inclusive of 1 digital image. Of course you are more than welcome to purchase additional photos, though there is definitely no obligation to do so. I will send you a text 24 hours prior to your newborn photography shoot to confirm your attendance. I encourage clients to send through any “inspiration images” or ideas that they like so I can keep these preferences in mind when setting up and styling the shoot.

Once you arrive, we will first make sure your baby is comfortable. I will wrap your baby up so they are snug and warm, which also helps them to feel settled and secure. Trust me when I say I have converted many parents who thought they had a baby who hated being swaddled! If your baby has a dummy, I ask that you bring it along so we can keep it handy. If your baby feeds on formula, please also bring a spare supply in case they become hungry or unsettled during the session. My main goal within a photography session is for everyone to feel relaxed and to enjoy the experience as much as possible, so feel free to feed your baby and tend to them as much as you like! The comfort and needs of your baby will always lead the session.

Your shoot will generally be wrapped up within 2 hours. Straight after your newborn shoot we will view your beautiful images at this point you may need your tissues as all the adorable images of your precious bub will make you be full of gushy emotions! Once you have chose the images you love and I will say be ready to love them all! You will decide on what package it is you are going to purchase. This package and any other products will be paid for at this time.

Before you leave I will ask you if you’d like a  “Sneak Peek” viewing of an edited photo which I will post on both Facebook or Instagram within a few days of your shoot.

Your images and products will be ready and back to you in  approximately 3 weeks.

When you book in with EJM Newborn Photography Melbourne, you can rest assured knowing your baby is in safe and capable hands. I will always go the extra mile to ensure a positive, memorable experience for all those involved and guarantee that you will just LOVE your collection.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any further queries or would like to book in for your newborn photography shoot and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Take care in the meantime!
